I’m a freelance writer, as well as a columnist and senior editor for Sporting Classics magazine. I also run Conservation Hawks, a nonprofit dedicated to defending America’s hunting & fishing, and to passing on a healthy natural world to our children and grandchildren.

My writing has appeared via a number of respected media platforms, including Forbes, Sporting Classics, Field & Stream, Fly Fisherman, Salmon & Steelhead Journal, Sports Afield, American Angler, The Flyfish Journal, Retriever Journal, Fish & Fly, Shooting Sportsman, Fly Fishing & Tying Journal, Bugle, The Fly Fisher, Montana Outdoors, Big Sky Journal, Fly Rod & Reel, NewWest, Writers on the Range, Hatch Magazine, Angling Trade and the NY Times.

As the founder and president of Conservation Hawks, I’m a conservationist and a climate activist. CH works overtime to educate America’s 37 million hunters & anglers on the threats we face from climate change. To learn more about our efforts, visit our Conservation Hawks website or view any of these stories from Outside, Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Orvis, National Geographic, Wyofile, National Wildlife Federation or Field & Stream.

Our three short Conservation Hawks films, Cold Waters, Chrome and Convergence are now available on the web.

My family and I live in western Montana, where I fly fish for trout, hunt birds with our golden retrievers, and chase deer & elk with my longbow.
